I work as a building operator. Think essentially hotel maintenance. No specialized trade. Just changing lightbulbs, washers and dryer repair, snow removal, etc. A professional husband if you will. The LTT Screwdriver is my most used tool, and I thought these pants would be a perfect fit to complement my load out.
The good:
- The pockets. I love the magnetic flap pockets. So awesome compared to velcro and I wish all pants had these. I love the selection of pockets aswell. My regular load out consists of my channel lock water wrench, LTT screwdriver, utility knife, and a nutdriver. The pockets fit these items perfectly and it keeps my tools easy to carry and at an arms reach.
-The look of these pants. My butt has never looked so great in a pair of pants.
-The comfort. These pants are mostly very comfortable for regular use.
The bad:
- The fit. I normally wear 30x30 Levi 541 athletic fit jeans. I ordered a size up just incase and got a 32x30. At the time of purchase I was 175lbs 5'8". They fit me comfortably at the waist, but were incredibly tight on the thighs. (I guess I'm just built like Taylor Swift. *cough*) They have since loosened up a tiny bit, but it could still be better. With tools in the pockets, I still find myself having to constantly pull up these pants from the added weight. I switched to using a belt after a few days, of course, which solved MOST of the issues, but not the most glaring issue. Which is-
- The movement. If you spread your legs out horizontally (Think the direction you would do the splits), they bring up bar tight in the crotch very quickly. Zero give or flexibility. I need to pull them way up real hard into my crotch whenever I want to step up on anything, or lift anything heavy that requires lifting with my legs and cradling the load. When I say "step up", I'm talking stepping up a small hill in the yard, stepping up to climb into the box of a pick up truck, etc.
I am on day 15 of wearing this particular pair of pants and they have a small hole in the crotch where the 3-way stitching joins, and one of the belt loops I have instinctively been grabbing to pull these pants up has torn a hole at the base where it's stitched in. This might be the last day for these pants, which is insane for well over $100CAD per pair.
TL;DR If you want pants that look great, buy these. If you want durable pants for working, look elsewhere. These are much too expensive to be so fragile. A version 2 that fixes these issues would probably be the best pair of pants in the world tbh.
Added food for thought: I ordered 2 pairs and let my brother try my second pair. My brother, who is built much like me, liked that pair so much he bought them off me and says he may buy more in the near future.
I tried on his pair aswell and it felt very much the same as mine, so it wasn't a one off. We have a similar job, he just does much less outdoor work than me.
Fantastic quality, they fit well and feel durable but I think they went too hard on the number of pockets. I get it, they're cargo pants, but at a certain point the pockets get too small and I think would have been better to be just larger. Also, the main phone / keys pockets are too tight and a bit annoying to get phone and stuff in and out of.
I would say I’m a huge fan of these pants. Really like the fit.
My use case:
Basically just wear them around, don’t do any sort of work that’d require cargo pants. Wear them to the office, or to go for a walk, or go shopping. Basically just like having separate pockets for AirPods, keys, wallet, and everything else I’d ever need.
Sizing:
I normally wear around a 31 pant size. For these I went with 32 just for safety, and cause I didn’t want them to be too tight. Waist size they are definitely a little big, plus the waist band has some flex, so i definitely could’ve gone with a size 30 and worn them without a belt. Also, when i measure around the narrow part of my hips/waist (like 2-3 inches below my belly button) i get 31-32 inches. So given a 30 of these pants fits well I’d say that you could probably round your size down based on your actual measurement at the position you’ll wear the pants.
Colour:
They are technically grey, but the undertones change a lot based on the lighting. Most of the time when I’m walking around outside they look like a neutral grey, with maybe some mild blue undertones. I notice in my bathroom lighting, which is a warmer colour temp they do look like they have red undertones. So based on the bathroom lighting I’m hesitant to wear blue shirts with the pants, cause the red undertone grey isn’t great with that imo.
Hope/dream:
I’m a huge fan of black pants, very much vibe with black on black sorta looks. It’d be an instant buy for me if they released an all black version of these pants.
Pockets:
Honestly, didn’t think I’d use more than the 2 main cargo pockets with the magnets (big + on the magnets), but I’ve found I’m using a lot of the pockets. The 4 slit pockets in between the magnet pockets and the normal pants pockets have been really useful. The smaller of the pockets fit my insulin pen perfectly, which is lovely, as in most pants it’s a pain to carry around.
Summary:
Overall build quality seems really good. Definitely worth the money. When I compare to my other $140 pants these are on par (all my other expensive pants are from lululemon for context, take of that what you will). One of my friends whose style I admire the most said they look really good, so I take that as a solid plus. Overall really satisfied with my purchase.
Yep I have been wearing it everyday.... hope there is no washing limits.. I love that thing... came in a little stiff and with A LOT of treads. I love this thing !!! Thanks !
The LTT cargo pants are probably the best fitting and most comfortable pair of pants that I own. I usually struggle with finding pants that fit correctly, but I happen to be Linus sized so these pants offer everything I want. I usually wear a 32” inch inseam in jeans so I was cautious with the LTT cargo pants (offering 30” only at the time of this review) but the 30” inseam fits great and if anything are preferable for me in comparison to 32”. I ordered the same waist size as I wear with jeans and the fit was perfect there too.
When I first tried the LTT cargo pants on, they were a bit more fitted than I expected in certain areas like the thigh and crotch (although not uncomfortable, just more fitted than I initially expected) but with just under 2 weeks of daily wear the material has stretched out slightly and the pants fit even better than when I first got them, now fitting loosely. I usually struggle with tightness in those areas with jeans and other pants, so the material blend of cotton, nylon and spandex in the cargo pants help these pants fit initially and loosen to my build, which was appreciated.
The pockets on those cargo pants are excellent, there’s so many pockets that at certain points I found myself discovering new ones I hadn’t seen during wear. The magnetic pockets are great and are much appreciated. Overall I am a huge fan of these pants and I’ll definitely be ordering another pair as a spare in the future.
